About the Opportunity:


The Social Worker will primarily work in the Guelph/Fergus region but will also work within the Waterloo region as needed.


The Social Worker enhances the client's social and emotional adaptations by conducting individual, family, and group interventions in partnership with their families and their community.

Social Workers' specific areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing social work services such as assessment, intervention, consultation, counselling, and service coordination for children with a disability and their families in an efficient and effective manner
  • Maintaining awareness of relevant community resources and factors that impact the social and emotional development of clients and to educate, consult and counsel individuals, families and other agencies or professionals to enhance the adaptation skills and functioning level of clients and their families
  • Providing motivation, initiative and support to the activities and plans of the interdisciplinary team related to coordinating services to clients and families
  • Developing methods and resources to efficiently perform information documentation responsibilities
  • Maintaining the standards of professional practice and conduct/ethics of the Ontario College of Certified Social Workers, the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OCSWSSW) and the Canadian Association of Social Workers (CASW)

More About You:

To qualify, applicants must have a master's degree in Social Work and registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), in addition to:

  • Strong analytical skills, be organized and detail minded, be able to prioritize tasks to meet strict deadlines and have excellent follow-up
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with high level of attention to detail and adherence to confidentiality standards
  • A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle with public liability/property damage coverage as travel may be required
In addition to the above qualifications, the following skills and experience will be strong assets:

  • Experience with children and youth who have a variety of developmental, physical, and communicative disorders, who have alternate and augmentative communication needs and/or feeding/swallowing needs
  • Experience with trauma informed care
  • Knowledge of Wellington community resources
  • Proven ability and willingness to work as an integral member of a team, as well as work independently with little direction, demonstrating selfmotivation and initiative
  • Demonstrated collaboration, consultation and coaching skills working with diverse groups
  • Excellent time management, problemsolving and caseload management skills
  • Knowledge of AlayaCare or other electronic charting software
  • Standard First Aid and CPR
