Tower Crane Operator

ABOUT US
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Reporting to the appropriate site supervisor, the Tower Crane Operator will be responsible for providing full cycle, in depth knowledge and support for the profession of Tower Crane Operator to ensure Aecon Construction Solutions Inc.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operators manipulate many pedals and levers to rotate the crane and raise and lower its boom and one or more load lines.
- Control cranes, lifts and other equipment using standard operating procedures to ensure effective transportation of materials and safety for all personnel on site
- Determine load weights and check them against lifting capacities to prevent overload.
- Inspect and adjust crane mechanisms or lifting accessories to prevent malfunctions or damage.
- Inspect cables or grappling devices for wear and install or replace cables, as needed.
- Hoist and move material around the job site for all construction trades
- Positioned cranes in response to hand signals
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Certified Journeyman Trade Ticket or indentured in the apprenticeship program
- Licensed with BC Crane Safety
- Operate heavy equipment safely
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks on equipment
- Follow directions that are spoken or given by hand signals
- Physical strength and stamina
- Manual dexterity
- Able to sit for long periods of time in cramped spaces
- A safetyconscious attitude
- The ability to work with others in a team
- Must be willing to work in remote job locations

- Ability to climb stairs to reach tower crane seat
Pay:
$48.28 per hour

- 10 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
