Trans Mountain operates Canada's only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. We deliver approximately 300,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta and British Columbia, and 111 kilometres of pipeline in Washington state.

Engaging internal stakeholders to understand the requirements of materials and services. Coordinating and administering the purchase of materials and contract services for operations, maintenance, and project activities. This position ensures that the Company realizes the best overall value. This role reports to the Lead, Supply Chain Operations.

This position is based in the Calgary Office. This is a full-time in office position (not remote nor hybrid).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for transition of Trans Mountain Expansion Project (TMEP) to operations and ensure continuity is maintained to support long-term operations.
  • Engage internal stakeholders to identify the requirements of materials and services.
  • Ensure that procurement process is strategic, efficient, effective and meets the requirements of the Company. Identify consolidation opportunities in the materials and services space to exploit the desired value.
  • Communicate effectively with operations, project management, risk management, procurement, legal, vendors, and suppliers to resolve internal and external issues.
  • Develop and seek approval on the procurement plans for materials and services.
  • Execute the procurement plan by leading sourcing events, soliciting proposals and quotes.
  • Negotiating as required, preparing and seeking approvals on recommendations of award.
  • Issuing contracts and purchase orders.
  • Leading pre-award meetings to manage delivery of materials and services, potential changes and close out contracts/ purchase orders.
  • Ensure suppliers and contractors deliver materials and services in accordance with the executed purchase orders followed by payment.
  • Proactively manage issues and resolve any disputes or claims initiated by either party.
  • Provide reports and information on market conditions.
  • Support Company personnel while monitoring compliance with Company' Procurement Policies.
  • Work with the Supply Chain leaders, Supply Chain team members and internal stakeholders to identify improvements to the process.
  • Conduct analysis and generate meaningful reports.
  • Explain the Company's procurement processes, procurement policies, roles & responsibilities to relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications and Professional Experience:

  • Post Secondary Education in a related field.
  • Ten years of experience in procuring materials and services in oil & gas industry in a similar capacity.
  • Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) Designation which replaces the Certified Professional Purchaser (C.P.P.) designation.
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner in a high-paced, agile and multi-task environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills are essential.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, conflict resolution experience and an ability to work collaboratively with others.
