Job Summary:

Integral to Phoenix's continuum of care, the Phoenix Youth Shelter is a 20-bed emergency shelter for youth aged The Family and Natural Support Clinician's (FNFC) primary responsibility will be to provide individual and family/caregiver/natural support therapy to support shelter diversion.

The goal is to prevent youth from intaking into the shelter system and/or to minimize time spent in the shelter by strengthening healthy and positive relationships with significant adults in their lives.


The FNFC will provide same-day, brief, and short-term therapy that includes advocacy and navigation support that will help secure stable housing.

The FNSC will be expected to engage in continuous learning and critical reflection with particular attention to culturally responsive and anti-oppressive practice.


Compensation:

Base annual salary of $80,000, comprehensive cost-shared group medical insurance plan, Employee and Family Assistance Program, RRSP contribution, three weeks annually of vacation to start and 4 weeks after first year, generous sick leave, a generous paid holiday schedule, in-house trainings, and professional development opportunities.


Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, generally, Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm.

Reports to:
Administrative - Director of Residential Programs and Clinical Consultation - Phoenix Youth and Family Therapy

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work in accordance with professional governing body's code of conduct/ethics.
  • Ensure practice is congruent with Phoenix's mission, vision, guiding principles and framework of practice. Ensure practice is grounded in principles of social justice.
  • Work in accordance with Phoenix's policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Support the agency's commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion through learning opportunities, critical selfreflection, and professional development.
  • Identify familial/caregiver housing options for youth referred to or accessing shelter.
  • Where relevant, provide traumainformed individual and family/caregiver therapy to youth who are new or recently arrived at the shelter to strengthen relationships with natural supports and support potential reunification.
  • Provide short term follow up support to youth, families/caregivers, and natural supports to prevent placement breakdown and reintake to shelter.
  • Conduct risk and safety assessments as part of family reunification and transition planning.
  • Have a strong working knowledge of Child welfare legislation and policies.
  • Assist youth and families to navigate systems, liaising and advocating as needed. Develop/fortify relationships with current and potential referral sources.
  • Assist in the development of shelter program protocols/practice where relevant.
  • Work collaboratively with relevant Phoenix teams and provide guidance with regard to working with families.
  • Use the Phoenix database for client records management, program development and evaluation purposes.
  • Participate in community committees, projects, or activities as appropriate.
  • Commitment to the development of Phoenix Youth Programs through participation in internal activities, committees, and/or projects.
  • Regular consultation and peer supervision with the Phoenix Youth and Family Therapy team.
  • Engage in relevant professional development.
