We are located about a 5-minute drive south of Saskatoon, so reliable transportation is a requirement of the position.

About the role:

Maintenance Crew Leaders are responsible for performing various tasks to manage the timely completion of landscape maintenance service contracts.

The position requires the supervision of staff and the operation of a variety of tools and equipment to carry out specified job tasks, as well as provide daily progress reporting on job time and cost data.

All workers are expected to complete daily tasks in an organized, safe, and efficient manner.

What you will do:

  • Plan and manage the loading/unloading of trucks and trailers including all daily labour, equipment, and materials required to complete daily objectives.
  • Operate power equipment including, but not limited to, lawn tractors, lawn mowers, line trimmers, blowers, hedge trimmers, pruning saws, sod cutters, chain saws, and snow blowers.
  • Supervise the work of crew members to ensure proper safety, quality, and productivity is being reached.
  • Inspect all work for quality to eliminate the need for return visits and/or rework due to poor quality or customer satisfaction issues.
  • Application of fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides
  • Train crew members on safe and proper job methods and techniques
  • Complete and submit all required paperwork on a daily basis including daily time and service record forms, equipment daily inspection forms, attendance tracking, requests for time off, etc.
  • Ensure that all work activities are carried out in a safe and efficient manner, and that all crew members are in compliance with government and company PPE standards.
  • Work in accordance with all local health and safety laws and regulations
  • Ensure completion of tasks such as cutting grass, trimming edges, raking, cleaning up refuse, blowing trimmings, planting, weeding, mulching, sweeping, fertilizing and watering turf areas and performing other lawn care duties.
  • Move and install soil, mulch, and plant material to assist with the construction of landscape gardens and related areas.
  • Conduct daily inspections and maintenance on vehicles, tools, and equipment.
  • Maintain and enforce standards of cleanliness and organization in assigned trucks, trailers, equipment, jobsites, and shop/yard areas

What you will bring:

  • Minimum 2 year of experience in the landscape industry.
  • Ability to work with power/hand tools, small engine equipment, and materials.
  • Physically fit with good stamina.
  • Ability to follow safe working procedures.
  • Ability to work both independently with little supervision, and as part of a team.
  • Speak, read, and write English.
  • Flexibility in working hours including occasional weekend work due to weather and job schedules.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License with Reliable transportation to and from work sites.
  • Personal smartphone with data plan for daily attendance marking, communication, and reporting.

Work Conditions:

  • Various locations including both residential and commercial landscape construction sites.
  • Working near heavy equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis.
  • Working outdoors in various conditions including cold, heat and humidity, rain, dust, and noise.
  • Working flexible hours including occasional weekend work, stat holidays, and outoftown work where required.
