The CanCap Group ("CanCap") is a privately-owned Canadian national financial services company with multiple verticals across automotive, consumer, and merchant lending portfolios.

We manage the entire lifecycle of the finance receivable from credit adjudication through to contract administration, customer service, default management and post charge-off recoveries.

What your day would look like:

  • Gather and preprocess data from various sources, ensuring data quality and integrity.
  • Explore and analyze large datasets using statistical techniques and machine learning algorithms.
  • Develop predictive models and algorithms to solve specific business problems.
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to understand business requirements and provide datadriven insights.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders through data visualizations, reports, and presentations.
  • Continuously evaluate and refine models to improve accuracy and performance.
  • Stay uptodate with the latest developments in data science, machine learning, and technology.
  • Participate in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and project planning discussions.
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously, managing priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Mentor junior team members and provide guidance on data analysis techniques and best practices.

What you bring:

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
  • 2 years of experience with python development.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with machine learning algorithms and tools, artificial intelligence, deep learning (tensorflow or pytorch).
  • Experience with computer vision algorithms and tools, image processing, OCR.
  • Experience with LLMs and prompt engineering (Chatgpt API or Gemini API).
  • Experience with google cloud services.
  • Have the ability to maintain inherited code with best coding practices.
  • Background in Agile team workflow leveraging concepts such as Scrum/Lean/Kanban.
  • Experience with Github.
  • Experience with Poetry.
  • Experience with SQL.
  • Scrum/Lean/Kanban.
