Position Summary:


Responsible for preparing the meals delivery schedules, and routes, delivering meals, maintaining friendly contacts, monitoring the health and safety of clients.

Compile and maintain program records and administration in the MOW department to support efficient and quality services for community clients.

Provide transportation services and assistance to Friendly Visiting, Security Check, and health promotion outreach services as needed.

Responsibilities:

1. Plans, co-ordinates, delivers meals
:

  • Plans, coordinates, and delivers meals in a timely, efficient, safe, and caring manner.
  • Prepares daily schedules for all MOW drivers, MOW client labels, and confirms the number of daily MOW orders with suppliers.
  • Checks and keeps records of meals temperature according to Food Safety Guidelines and Policy.
  • Pick up meals from the suppliers, and pack meals in the insulated meal bags according to the route sheets.
  • Ensure all meal bags are sanitized before the end of the daily shift.

2. Maintains service records and reports:

  • Completes delivery check lists and submits reports on daily basis.
  • Collects daily food temperature and input data on weekly basis.
  • Updates and prepares the daily MOW order summary and food labels on a daily basis.
  • Files Incident Reports as required about safety issues and concerns with appropriate recommendation in a timely manner.

3. Ensures safety of clients, staff, volunteers, and self:

  • Complies with all legislated safety regulations such as Occupational Health and Safety Act and organization and department safety policies including "Client Safety" and "Risk Management" policy statements.
  • Complies with safety procedures including the Infection Prevention, and Control Measures outlined in the Meals on Wheels handbook.
  • Drives safely and in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act
  • Attending safety training as required.

4. Performs other support duties:

  • Provide back up or support to the implementation, and the delivery of MOW program, and Transportation Services
  • Assists in other programs and conduct any other reasonable duties that may be assigned by supervisor from time to time.
  • Participates in SPLC's and department's activities including volunteer management, events, promotion, and fundraising.
  • Respects confidentiality of staff, volunteers, residents/ tenants, and clients/ caregivers
  • Transporting clients to appointments as assigned

Education:

  • High School graduate with OSSD, or equivalent
  • Postsecondary diploma in Social Services or equivalent an asset.

Experience & Skills:

  • Valid Ontario Driver's License with 35 years abstract
  • Will be required to lift up to 20lbs.
  • Experience in supervision
  • Work or volunteer experience in social services in multicultural communities
  • Knowledge and experience working with frail or cognitively impaired seniors.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to perform accurate filing and record
keeping.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel
  • Good customer service manner and observation skills second language such as Tamil, Cantonese, or Mandarin considered an asset

Hours of Work:

  • 35 hours per week
  • Required to work occasional evening or weekend hours. Hours may vary from
week to week

  • Vulnerable sector screening required
  • Proof of full COVID19 Vaccination

  • Required to conduct home visits with clients and caregivers
