The Community Ministries Director provides innovative Christian leadership to a smaller ministry unit in the Canada & Bermuda Territory. The incumbent is responsible to ensure the effective management of all aspects of the ministry unit's operations including programming, thrift store, community outreach, finance, property, and human relations. The Community Ministries Director ensures the ongoing delivery of programs and services to the community in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of The Salvation Army, and develops and implements strategies for improvements and extensions to services. The Community Ministries Director partners with expert support available through Divisional (DHQ) and Territorial headquarters (THQ) to ensure standards and resources are aligned to advance the mission. Education, Qualifications and Certifications:
  • Completion of a formal post-secondary college or university program of at least 3 academic years preferably in Human Services, Social Sciences, or Business Administration. Completion of a BBA or BSW is a strong advantage.
  • Courses/training in business administration, accounting, human resources management, volunteer management, and/or risk management. Degree, diploma, or certificate preferred.
  • WHMIS training.
  • Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Canadian Criminal Record Check.
  • Must have valid New Brunswick Drivers' License and clean Drivers' Abstract.
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years previous experience in a management level position with responsibility for program management, financial management, human resources management, volunteer management, and risk management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant federal and provincial legislation in New Brunswick.
  • Experience working within a community services environment is considered a significant asset.
