Job Number:49837**The Application Services Branch of the Edmonton Police Service requires a Business Analyst who is self-motivated and organized with exceptional technical, business analysis and interpersonal skills to perform comprehensive systems planning and feasibility assessments in assisting management to develop and implement technical strategies to address business needs

Responsibilities will include:

  • Effectively elicit, validate, and document business requirements using a variety of techniques and methods as defined in the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK).
  • Organize and facilitate meetings/focus groups and training sessions with business unit "endusers".
  • Prepare preproject documentation such as business cases, request for proposal (RFP), vision/scope, technology investment requests, briefing notes, business analysis plans, etc.
  • Author, review and assist in the creation of deliverables such as business requirements, conceptual prototyped designs, process models (swimlane), functional specifications, detailed designs, and enduser documentation.
  • Participate and lead the development, documentation, execution, and implementation of all software testing phases.
  • Develop training material and providing 'train the trainer' training sessions to various business areas.
  • Work with technical, business and project management resources to develop time and resource estimates.
  • Assist in the selection and implementation of software solutions, including performing gap fit analysis of a selected solution to EPS requirements.
  • Support, administer, and enhance the EPS GIS platform.
  • Maintain spatial data management and problem resolution for GIS technology.
  • Ensure stakeholders are engaged in the development of project objectives and deliverables, including strategies associated with user acceptance testing, communications, training, and implementation.
  • Performing related duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • University Degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. With a minimum of four (4) years experience
  • Business Analysis experience in software development industry, COTS implementation and/or information technology consulting.
  • Geographic Information System Professional (GISP) designation would be considered an asset.
  • ESRI, Geocortex, and FME certification(s) would be considered an asset.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written skills with a strong focus on customer service.
  • Ability to excel in a team environment.
  • Experience working in a policing organization, particularly in the area of information and records management is a significant asset.
  • Professional Designation in Business Analysis (CCBA, CBAP, PMI-PBA) from the IIBA or PMI is an asset.
  • Certification in Software Testing from a postsecondary institution is an asset.
  • Applicants may be required to undergo a short knowledge or skills assessment test.
  • As part of your prehire screening you will be required to complete an Enhanced Security Clearance. Should you accept employment with the Edmonton Police Service you acknowledge and agree to participate in future Enhanced Security Re-Clearances at scheduled intervals or in any other circumstances, exigent or otherwise, as required by Human Resources Division.

Salary Grade: 032, $ $65.30 (Hourly), $3, $4, Bi-Weekly), $90, $115, Annually). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.

General:

  • The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Servicer Union Collective Agreement. The incumbent will be notified in advance.
