Description

Professional staff members in this position have at least five years' experience in a public accounting firm. This extremely fast-paced position is responsible for various engagements and may at times be involved in multiple assignments simultaneously, responding to demanding and exacting clients. The Manager must have a thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting and Auditing Principals (GAAP and GAAS).

Responsibilities

Specifically, the duties of the Manager are:

  • To ensure engagements are planned in accordance with GAAS requirements
  • To provide guidance and direction to staff throughout the year
  • To review entire NTRs, reviews and audits completed by staff; to ensure that all queries and outstanding points have been resolved satisfactorily prior to review by the Partner
  • To review (and amend as necessary) the financial statements, notes, attached schedules, management letters, and any other documents to be issued to the client
  • To point out to Partner any tax planning opportunities and more efficient tax treatment where applicable
  • To perform research on complex tax and accounting issues and writing memoranda on findings
  • To review personal, corporate, trust and partnership returns

Qualifications

Must have a minimum of:

  • Completion of CPA, CA designation;
  • At least five years' practical experience in public practice;
  • Strong Canadian tax experience.

  • Dedication and strong work ethic;
  • Positive team player, even in times of high volume and stressful situations;
  • Tact, diplomacy and discretion when dealing with high profile clients;
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail;
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP, CAS and Canadian tax;
  • Requires minimal supervision on routine tasks;
  • Able to prioritize multiple assignments simultaneously.

  • Excellent client service skills, with the desire and ability to understand the clients' businesses;
  • Comfortable making contact with clients; conscious of client relations and expectations.
