  • Perform work such as:
  • Develop project definition including battery limits, charters, or defined outcomes.
  • Work with the JDS Project Sponsor to assemble a project team comprised of internal and external resources.
  • Manage teams of internal and external resources on project phases/scopes such as Cost Estimates, Scoping Studies, Pre-Feasibility Studies, Feasibility Studies, Detailed Design Development, and Construction/Execution.
  • Lead development of studyphase deliverables such as reports, presentations, and memorandums.
  • Lead development of a detailed project executions plans and ensure these plans respect all health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Lead and/or participate in workshops such as Risk Assessments, Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (FMEA), Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analyses, etc.
  • Produce cost estimates and schedules at the appropriate level for each project phase.
  • Manage all aspects of project scope including planning, engineering, procurement/contracting, construction, and/or reclamation.
  • Seek opportunities to optimize project performance, including budget, schedule, and quality.
  • Communicate with all members of the project team professionally and in a timely fashion.
  • Support with mentoring, development, and training of junior employees.
  • Monitor/track schedule and budget performance on a disciplined basis.
  • Implement change management tools such as change notices, change orders, RFIs, DCRs, from both the owner and consultant/contractor side, ensuring a high level of detail and accuracy.
  • Set up and maintain project control systems (utilizing JDSs in house systems).
  • Manage contract and procurement processes (RFQs, RFPs, etc.) for direct contracting and or acting as agent for our clients.
  • Manage logistics for the sites/projects including procurement of equipment as required.
  • Ensure project communications are formalized as required, including running meetings, distributing minutes, formal letters to clients or others, formal progress reports as required by the project scope.
  • Perform rotational work and/or frequent project site visits and as required to ensure project is performing according to plan.
  • Identify opportunities and develop proposals for new work.

Work Schedule/Compensation:

  • Compensation is based on actual hours worked (hourly as opposed to salary).
  • Office work is capped at 10 hours per day and onsite work is capped at 12 hours per day.
  • Onsite work is likely but is based on project phase.
  • Travel time to/from a project site is paid from point of hire up to a maximum of 8 hours per travel day.
  • Time off will be accommodated with appropriate advanced notice to JDS Project Sponsor.
  • Vacation starts at two weeks per year (and included in hourly compensation). Additional unpaid time off is available based on project workload.

Experience/Education Requirements:

  • 812 years of experience in project/construction management in mining or closely related industries
  • Engineering, Geology, or Environmental Science degree or technical diploma (P.Eng is an asset but not required).
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, SharePoint, Teams, Project is required.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Minesight, other specialized software is an advantage.

  • Must be open and honest in all communications internally and externally.
  • Must be flexible in terms of assignments, work locations, and roles and be comfortable working in both industrial and corporate office settings.
  • Must have strong English written and verbal communication skills. Additional languages may be an asset depending on project location.
