The Opportunity:


Ebco and ACSI are seeking a Financial Controller for maintaining, supporting and continuing to develop the financial operations for the companies in the group.

The Financial Controller will be responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of the accounting and reporting function to support the growth plans of Ebco and ACSI.

They will assist the CFO in providing efficient and prudent oversight on company capital resources, budgeting, reporting, projections, and strategy.

They will also be accountable for assisting the development of the Finance Department.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer company accounting practices and policies
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and accurate and timely production of monthly financial reporting with analysis of results
  • Accurate and timely completion of month end, quarter end and year end close processes
  • Manage the accuracy and productivity of daytoday accounting, invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash management, inventory integrity, fixed assets, payroll, financial reporting
  • Prepare monthend and annual financial statements and supplemental reporting with the CFO for senior management and the Board of Directors
  • Assist in the budgeting process and monitor monthly budget variances, investigate budget deficiencies and assist with corrective actions
  • Manage the yearend process including coordination with external accounting firm and preparation of working papers and other requirements
  • Maintain compliance and preparation of corporate and tax filings (GST/ PST, etc) and working with external accounting firm for yearend corporate tax returns
  • Provide financial analyses as needed, including capital investments, pricing decisions and contract negotiations
  • Review the accounting department and processes for efficiency and improvement
  • Develop and maintain a documented system of procedures and internal controls to ensure efficient operation of the accounting organization and accuracy of financial reporting
  • Assist with other ad hoc projects as applicable to the finance function (e.g. ERP implementation)
  • Supervising other accountants on the Finance Team

Technical Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree and accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA)
  • 5+ years' post designation experience (working in a controller capacity is a plus)
  • Specialized knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping (ability to use accounting software, Microsoft Office Suite)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Thorough working knowledge of accounting standards for private enterprises
  • Proficient written and spoken communication skills
  • Experience with Excel in developing working papers and analysis (experience using Power BI is a plus)
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problemsolving skills to drive strategic data interpretation
  • Ability to multitask, meet deadlines and work effectively in a fastpaced environment
  • Extremely well organized and accurate, with superb attention to detail
  • Professional, personable and conscientious
