Ophthalmic Technician

Objectives:

Provide optimum patient care in a fast
- paced ophthalmology clinic.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients respectfully, pleasantly, professionally and be able to convey concern, relate tactfully and sympathetically at all times.
  • Understand the patient registration and informed consents and be able to present.
  • Check out patients in a timely and efficient manner to maintain a steady workflow.
  • Assist in other departments when needed, front desk and call centre.
  • Able to collect the patient's medical history and document.
  • Able to do visual acuity workups and assist the doctor needs in prepping and pretesting the patients.
  • Experience with OCT, VF, IOL Master, AScan, Tonometry and other tests.
  • Ensures that the clinic areas are maintained in accordance to guidelines.

Must have access to a reliable vehicle and able to travel between clinics in Oakville and Brampton
:

  • Able to work a flexible schedule with some weekend clinics.
  • Maintain a neat and clean work environment and professional appearance.

Education & Skills:

  • Ophthalmology Diploma preferred but relevant experience is considered an asset as well.
  • Ability to follow process and procedures as directed.
  • Ability to think as you work and catch things that might be missed through testing.
  • Proactive personality with the ability to think and work independently and not just waiting for the queues to begin.
  • Able to work under pressure and multitask in a fast paced environment, while providing a high degree of professionalism.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong customer service skills.
  • Interest in the health care field and willingness to learn various roles within the clinic.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patients and organization at all times.
  • Experience in Ophthalmology and Oscar Clinical Management System is an asset

  • 8 hour shift

Social Distancing in place, all employees and patients are required to wear a mask at all times. Sanitize their hands periodically. Facility Sanitation done regularly.
