Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a variety of field sampling and data collection activities to support Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, hydrogeological investigations, UST removals, excess soil and site remediation projects and Records of Site Condition;
  • Complete fieldbased investigations such as groundwater elevation surveys, hydraulic testing, data logger installation and management, monitoring well development, drilling supervision, soil and groundwater sampling, sample preparation and submission to analytical laboratories;
  • Coordinate and communicate with subcontractors including drillers, excavators, construction contractors, utility locators and laboratories;
  • Prepare detailed field notes and complete appropriate fieldwork forms;
  • Completion of fieldbased deliverables, including borehole logs, data assessment, photo logs and site drawings;
  • Preparation of technical reports in consultation with the project manager or other more senior environmental professionals;
  • Attend and participate in project or client meetings, as required;
  • Follow MTE's company policies and procedures pertaining to administration, I.T., finance and health and safety;
  • Other related duties, as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering, Science, Hydrogeology or equivalent;
  • 02 years of relevant (Ontario based) work experience;
  • Future eligibility as a P.Eng. or P.Geo. designation is considered an asset;
  • Technical understanding of provincial (Ontario) regulations and industry standard practices related to environmental site assessment, including an understanding of O.Reg. 153/04 (Records of Site Condition), O.Reg. 406/19 (On-Site and Excess Soil Management and CSA Standards for Phase I and II ESAs);
  • Knowledge of soil classification, contaminant transport, hydrogeology and environmental site assessment;
  • Experience in sample collection and use of field equipment, including surveying equipment, water quality meters and pumps, would be an asset;
  • Experience with GIS and AutoCAD an asset;
  • Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act;
  • Must have strong verbal/written communication skills and the ability to communicate clearly with a variety of individuals (e.g., project managers, laboratories, subcontractors and clients);
  • Must be reliable, well organized and have a strong attention to detail;
  • Strong time management skills, problem solving skills and decisionmaking abilities; and
  • Must be able to lift equipment up to 25 kilograms; and
  • Valid Driver's license and travel to project sites is required. Mileage for work related travel will be reimbursed.
