The Ministry of Attorney General is responsible for government law reform, the administration of justice, and for providing legal services that ensure lawful public administration.

The Ministry provides leadership to the justice sector and delivers justice services.


As a branch within the Ministry of Attorney General, Court Services employs approximately 1,300 staff to deliver programs and services at 89 court locations, in person, by telephone, via video and the internet.

Branch programs and services include case documentation and adjudication support (i.e.

case initiation and processing, fee collection, file and exhibit management, court clerking, court records and transcripts, interpreter services, and the preparation and dissemination of court orders); court and courthouse security and court order enforcement including:

holding and transporting of prisoners by ground and air from police jails and from federal and provincial correctional facilities, the collection of court fines, and the civil bailiff process.

The branch also manages and maintains all courthouse facilities.

Court Services Branch administrators throughout the Province fulfill this mandate in a manner that is respectful of an independent judiciary.


The Court Services Branch is responsible for the delivery of all court administration services in BC, including registry, trial support and Sheriff Services.

The Registry provides the infrastructure to support the justice system and processes documents that are required by the court to ensure timely and effective processing of court cases.

Skilled in client service, you are professional when dealing with the public and difficult clients. You will gain extensive experience in interacting with the judiciary, members of the legal profession, and justice system partners. You have a good grounding in office administration and possess the flexibility required to be a good Court Clerk.


The Court Clerk reports to the Supervisor, provides clerical and administrative support to all levels of court in the province by performing pre-court, in-court and post court duties.

The role also provides client services to justice system participants, the media and public.

Job Requirements:

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent (e.g. GED)
  • Minimum one (1) year office experience, OR an equivalent experience, education and/or training.
  • Experience using Microsoft office products, e.g. Outlook, Excel
  • Must have a Minimum 40 WPM keyboarding.
Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • Prefer training and experience in JUSTIN
  • Prefer training and experience in CCD/DARS

PROVISOS:

  • Must be willing to complete relevant training programs
  • May be required to travel
  • May be required to work at other court locations
  • May be required to work overtime on short notice
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours on short notice, including shifts in support of a 24 hour, 7 days a week operation
