Fisheries Biologist

The Gwich'in Renewable Resources Board (GRRB) is a co-management Board located in Inuvik,
Northwest Territories. The GRRB is currently seeking a motivated full-time Fisheries Biologist. This
position is responsible for management planning, technical advice, relationship building, and consultation
related mainly to fisheries, but also involving some forestry management, in the Gwich'in Settlement
Area (GSA).

Main responsibilities:

• Lead the GRRB's involvement with fisheries and forestry management in the GSA, including
development, review and implementation of management plans and the associated consultations;

• Maintain an inventory of fisheries and forestry research in the GSA;

• Assist in the coordination of annual fisheries and forestry research priorities;

• Provide related technical advice to the Board, comanagement partners, and government agencies in the
GSA;

• Develop fisheries and forestry related communication material as needed;

• Consult with Renewable Resources Councils, government and co-management partners on related
management programs and research projects in the GSA; and

• Provide plain language summaries of GRRB fisheries and forestry research to RRCs and the public

Requirements (Applicants MUST demonstrate they meet the following):

• Minimum of a Bachelor degree in Biology or related science field;

• Work experience in the fisheries field

• Ability to conduct remote field work; and

• NWT Class 5 Driver's License, standard first aid, and successful criminal records check prior to
employment

• Experience in renewable resources and management plan development;

Assets (Preference will be given to applicants that meet the following):

• Priority will be given to qualified Participants of the Gwich'in Comprehensive Land Claim Agreement
and residents of the Northwest Territories
