Canada Scarborough Transit Connect Full time

Who We Are:

Scarborough Transit Connect (STC) is in charge of the design and early works of the Scarborough Subway Extension project. This extension will lengthen the TTC's Line 2 subway service by almost eight kilometers into Scarborough, going from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road. It aims to enhance transportation within Scarborough and towards downtown, replacing Line 3 (the Scarborough RT) to improve travel times to key locations like jobs and schools.

As part of our team, we are searching for a skilled Health and Safety Manager to contribute to the Scarborough Transit Connect project.

What You Will Do:

  • Assist in the sourcing and hiring process for the Safety department.
  • Provide site-specific safety training and orientation to workers, owners, and clients.
  • Develop and train supervisors and staff on the Health and Safety Management Plan and the Site-Specific Safety Manuals.
  • Review project plans and sites before work begins to identify safety risks.
  • Inspect project sites to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Collaborate with external parties like government inspectors and subcontractors.
  • Work with project teams and field workers to address safety issues.
  • Participate in the creation of emergency procedures and safety plans.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards by subcontractors and employees.
  • Conduct Hazard Identification activities with Operations teams.
  • Represent STC in meetings with stakeholders on health and safety matters.
  • Promote a Safety Culture valuing input from all stakeholders.
  • Manage a team of Health and Safety Advisors.
  • Assign responsibilities and conduct Performance Management for Advisors.
  • Participate in developing Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Carry out other assigned duties.

Experience You Will Bring:

  • 5+ years coordinating health and safety for civil infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Bachelor's degree, CRSP, and COR Auditor.
  • NCSO certification.
  • Experience in EHS Training programs and Construction projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience in Light Rail and railways projects.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Meeting and training facilitation abilities.
  • Understanding of safety systems like WSIB.
  • Adaptability to changing environments.
  • Valid driver's license.
