NATURE OF THE WORK:

The caretaker, Class II is responsible for carrying out the maintenance work as well as the preventive and physical upkeep of an educational institution or building; this responsibility applies for a total area covering less than 9,275 m2.

You will be responsible for organizing and carrying out such work as well as coordinating and overseeing it when it is carried out with or by other employees.

In addition, you will also be required to:

• Ensure that the building and its equipment are in good condition;
• Inspect and verify the lighting, heating and ventilation systems; ensure the operation of heating equipment which does not require the involvement of a stationary engineer;
• Repair doors, windows and furniture; assemble and install material;
• Ensure adequate security against fire and theft. In certain specific cases and, as required, monitor the entering and exiting of visitors, students and staff;
• Prepare orders or purchase materials, products and equipment required for maintenance work; keep an inventory; ensure that the standards respecting the safe use, storage and disposal of products are respected;
• If need be, perform any other related duty.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Three (3) years of pertinent experience;
• General knowledge of the operation of the heating, ventilation, lighting and alarm systems that a caretaker oversees;
• Basic knowledge of the main building trades.
