Job Description

The Director of Operations oversees all operations for AIM Recycling Feeder Yards within their assigned region. Reporting directly to the Vice President, this role collaborates with executives at all levels, providing leadership and guidance to managers, supervisors, and employees to accomplish the company's goals.

What your role entails:
  • Collaborating with the Vice President to develop short, medium, and long-term strategic plans for the company.
  • Creating and implementing communication strategies in partnership with senior leadership and overseeing operational meetings.
  • Identifying potential risks and offering solutions through the development of internal procedures aligned with operational requirements.
  • Contributing to operational projects and ensuring their progression.
  • Aligning the organization with stakeholders.
  • Supervising the services provided by team members to ensure delivery that meets expectations.
  • Driving cost and operational efficiency enhancements while implementing necessary actions to achieve them.
  • Promoting a culture of workplace health and safety and customer-centric values.
  • Exhibiting dynamic and positive leadership in alignment with company beliefs.
  • Encouraging direct reports to adopt a constructive supervisory approach to enhance employee engagement and retention.
  • Establishing operational benchmarks and ensuring the achievement of performance targets.
  • Enforcing sector-specific procedures, methodologies, quality standards, and processes.
  • Serving as the face of the organization to the public, key stakeholders, and business associates.
  • Fostering strategic partnerships and alliances for the organization.
Qualifications to Join Our Team:

A background in engineering or operations management from a post-secondary institution. A university degree in a relevant field is a plus. Minimum of 10 years' experience in operational and plant management positions within prominent industrial companies specializing in metal recycling, construction materials, rail, loading cars, shunting, or similar capital-intensive industries.

  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of material management and production scheduling.
  • Skill in managing and prioritizing multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
