Major Responsibilities:

Shunter

  • Transfer trailers and material within the building as required
  • Monitor outbound picklists and ensure trailers are loaded correctly and in a timely manner
  • Operate lift trucks inside and outside the facility to move material, finished goods and skids as required
  • Monitor inventory of packaging items (skids, lumber, banding etc.) and notify maintenance
  • Communicate Loaded / Unloaded trailers to the Shipping Department
  • Trailer check
  • Ensures safe and efficient operation of cranes, shunt trucks, lift trucks and processing equipment
  • Performs daily inspection on lifting equipment and shunt trucks prior to start up

Material Handler

  • Ensures safe and efficient operation of all lifting equipment
  • Performs daily inspection on lifting equipment prior to start up.
  • Load material according to Load List scanning product tags
  • Updates inventory material locations
  • Locates, assembles, and applies finish good tags to As-Is products.
  • Stage material for processing
  • Transfer material within the building as required
  • Ensures the safe preservation of product stored inside / outside the building
  • Ensures all necessary reports have been completed.
  • Ensures nonconforming product / damaged equipment is brought forth to the Shipping / Receiving Department or Production Supervisor for disposition.
  • Maintains good housekeeping in the work area.
  • Identifies packaged material per sales order requirements.
  • Ensures nonconforming product is brought forth to the Production Supervisor for disposition
  • Updates inventory material locations
(RTS)

  • Maintains good housekeeping in the work area and the yard (lumber / skids in the driveways placed in racks)
  • Take part and initiate continuous improvement efforts.
  • Trains new employees as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Production Supervisor and Shipping / Receiving Department

Quality System Requirements (Authority & Responsibility)

  • Notify Supervisors of any nonconformities relating to product, process and quality system
  • Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels

Tools & Equipment

  • Grinding equipment, measuring equipment, hand tools / banding equipment, computer equipment (RF scanner / D365) lift trucks, shunt trucks, remote crane and packaging area cranes

Material & Products

  • Not limited to ferrous and nonferrous product in form of sheet, plate, strip, extrusions and long product

Qualifications
High School education or equivalent combination of education and experience. English spoken and written.
