Reporting to the VP of Engineering, this role is crucial in shaping the AI strategy at the company. You'll collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to create, implement, and deploy ML models at scale. Your work will significantly impact the company's revenue growth and offer high visibility across the engineering unit.

Key Responsibilities

Here's what you'll be doing day to day...

  • Research: Stay updated with the latest in NLP/NLU research.
  • Design: Engage in product design conversations and decisions.
  • Implement: Develop and deploy AI software/products that meet evolving customer needs. Test, debug, maintain, and enhance software as per specifications. Engage in rapid iteration cycles related to Training/Finetuning + Testing + Deployment of NLP models.
  • Collaborate: Establish organizational best practices with various teams to ensure high-quality software systems that set industry benchmarks.
  • Mentor: Mentor, aid, and lead a small team of NLP Engineers.
Your Experience and Intangible Traits:

The ideal Lead Machine Learning Engineer candidate will possess the following competencies:

  • Ability to comprehend business issues and translate them into ML problems
  • A Research-to-Implementation Mindset: adept at driving a project from ideation to production deployment
  • Strong grasp of Ranking/Recommendation systems
  • 1+ year experience in working with Recommendation/Ranking systems
  • Knowledge of traditional and Deep Learning based Ranking/Recommendations systems
  • Experience with semi-structured data for statistical and machine learning based algorithms
  • Exceptional Python skills - Minimum 5 years of experience
  • Ability to deploy ML models in the Cloud - At least 3 models deployed previously
  • Prior exposure to AWS and related services
  • Experience with databases (Postgres/MySQL)
  • ML framework: Pytorch / Tensorflow
  • Experience managing Machine Learning Engineers
  • Good to have: prior contributions to NLP projects/libraries/packages
