Overview:
The

Mechanical Maintenance Coordinator administers and coordinates the execution activities of the mechanical maintenance activities. In carrying out the duties of this position, a primary objective is to improve the value of all Company assets at the Richmond plant through increase reliability and lower operating costs while allowing the operation of the equipment to meet production requirements within budget guidelines.


As a part of the plant management team, the incumbent also has a contribution regarding the establishment of plant policies and procedures concerning the maintenance department and general employee relations.

The incumbent has a responsibility to develop effective employee relations, competent subordinates, and collaborative relations between the maintenance employees and other departments.


Responsibilities:

  • Understand and comply with all Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) policies to ensure that the environment, health and safety are the first priority of the business. Actively support key safety initiatives at the facility and assist the department as needed to improve EHS performance and results.
  • Responsible for all plant equipment maintenance. Must be capable of analyzing and forecasting mechanical requirements so that effective planning and work scheduling can be accomplished in a cost effective manner, while still meeting plant production goals.
  • Remain informed of all plant operations and be able to provide a positive contribution to plant operation.
  • Contribute to completing work in a safe, efficient, and timely manner by coordinating the activities of the Inspection, Planning, and Execution functions of the Richmond maintenance organization.
  • Coordinating and overseeing plant mechanical maintenance activities.
  • Support the development of the Maintenance Department's daily, weekly, and monthly work schedules based on specific requests, the preventative maintenance program, inspections and predictive based work orders.
  • Establish realistic performance objectives and provide subordinates with ongoing performance reviews.
  • Develop competent and effective staff through leadership and sound personnel administration; including selection, training and development, performance appraisal, and discipline.
  • Make systematic usage of group manufacturing results to benchmark the progress of the departments cost and reliability performance.
  • Responsible for updating mechanical progressions and tracking employee progress.
  • Responsible for investigation of new methods and procedures that will improve manpower and maintenance efficiencies.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Operates maintenance department within forecasted budget limits for overtime and contractor work maximizes the value of all available resources.
  • Develops and implements effective maintenance systems.
  • Develops subordinates and provides and environment for employee development and support.
  • Ensures safe work practices are implemented and followed by employees.
  • Ensures quality of all work performed.
  • Completes work, charging time and parts daily.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Minimum five (5) years' experience in a heavy industry/mining environment.
  • Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent education / experience or related trade

Experience:

  • 5 years of maintenance experience in cement or similar heavy industry
  • Computer Skills Microsoft Office, SAP PM (only transactions needed for the role), CATS
  • Good level for written and spoken English
  • Ability to work selfdirected
  • Knowledge of CIF (Cement Industrial Framework), MAC (Maintenance Cement), ACS, PMA CbM (Computer based Monitoring), Project Management Approach (PMA), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and Cost Basics preferred.
  • Ability to adjust to changing priorities and propose improvement actions.
  • Flexibility with working hours
  • Ability to manage stress, to provide assistance and to encourage the maintenance team in critical situations
