About The Role

We are currently seeking individuals who are friendly, outgoing, and dedicated to customer service to join our team as Supervisor at our Ace Liquor Cornerstone location in Slave Lake. As the Supervisor, you will train and develop team members to establish a strong sales culture while maintaining accountability for operational excellence and adherence to financial and regulatory standards. You will provide leadership and guidance for a multimillion-dollar business unit in collaboration with the Store Manager, focusing on delivering an exceptional customer experience. Understanding customer needs and fostering a customer-centric mindset within the store are key responsibilities. Additionally, you will participate in stocking and merchandising, ensuring the store is well-equipped to serve our customers.

Essential Business Functions, Responsibilities, and Accountabilities

  • People Management Skills
    • Customer service driven, approachable, and proactive in engaging with all customers
    • Promote a work culture that creates a welcoming environment
    • Lead by example, offering support and motivation to team members
    • Delegate tasks to team members and prioritize in collaboration with management
    • Convey information clearly and concisely to the team, actively participate in meetings and huddles
    • Provide guidance to team members in alignment with management objectives
  • Customer Offering
    • Provide exceptional customer service
    • Greet customers upon entry and assist them in finding products as needed
    • Boost sales by educating customers, offering recommendations, and product information
    • Maintain a high level of product knowledge and service standards
    • Handle customer complaints regarding sales and service in the absence of management, ensuring all issues are communicated to management
    • Take charge of product rollouts and launches in partnership with management
    • Stay informed about and utilize local market trends, collaborating with management
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of programs and promotions, providing feedback and suggestions to management
    • Escort customers to their vehicles or arrange car service when necessary
  • Financial
    • Process customer transactions using the Point-of-Sale (POS) system, including handling payments
    • Demonstrate proficiency in the POS system and manage various transaction scenarios
    • Adhere to all cash handling policies and procedures
    • Ensure correct execution of opening and closing procedures
    • Prepare end-of-day till reports
    • Secure the safe and deposits at all times
  • Day-to-Day Operations
    • Meet or surpass department financial targets in collaboration with management
    • Ensure compliance with merchandising and pricing guidelines within the department
    • Assist with all operational tasks alongside management
    • Maintain store presentation and promptly report any maintenance issues to management
    • Manage communications (mail, email, voicemail) in the absence of management
    • Handle ordering and receiving processes in partnership with management
    • Actively expand and share product knowledge
    • Maintain inventory levels in coordination with management
    • Participate in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Loss Prevention (LP) meetings and training sessions
    • Stock shelves and coolers with products
    • Assign daily tasks for the store in the absence of management
    • Review flyers, upcoming events, and promotions and execute as required
    • Engage in regular store maintenance and cleaning activities
  • Regulatory Adherence
    • Ensure implementation and adherence to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), Loss Prevention (LP), ProServe/Serving It Right, and other regulatory requirements and procedures
    • Maintain valid First-Aid, LP, and OHS certifications
    • Hold and ensure team members maintain ProServe/Serving It Right certification
    • Meet AGLC/BC LRS and other government guidelines
    • Adhere to all SNDL Inc. policies, with a focus on Social Responsibility

Qualifications

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of retail experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience (preferred)

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • ProServe/Serving It Right Certification
  • First-Aid Certificate is considered an asset
  • Training in wine/beer/spirits (preferred, not required)
