Starting April 1, 2023, all federal employees will be required to work from a Government of Canada workplace at least two to three times per week, or 40% to 60% of their regular schedule. At Transport Canada (TC), this means we work at a worksite at least eight days during a four-week period. Worksites include, but are not limited to, spaces such as TC approved worksites and collaborative spaces; Locations where TC inspectors conduct their work inspections or locations of stakeholder activities and meetings as well as Government of Canada touchdown and collaborative spaces.

Inspectors must be good communicators, able to work effectively with others and adapt to the diverse needs of all stakeholders. They may be required to take urgent and decisive action and be able to negotiate, facilitate behavioural change and develop new skills in customer-focused areas. Inspectors have an obligation to perform their duties in accordance with their departmental delegation. Inspectors work under pressure because of the impact that could create an actual or potential conflict and ensure that regulations are followed. They are accountable for decisions that directly impact the safety of Canadians. Intent of the process The intent of this selection process is to create a pool of qualified and/or partially qualified candidates that could be used to staff similar positions in Transport Canada where the tenure, language requirements and security requirements may vary.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications) EDUCATION (STREAM 1 AND 2)
• Secondary school diploma; AND
• Successful completion of a post-secondary diploma/degree in aircraft maintenance or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience related to aircraft maintenance and/or manufacturing.
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
STREAM 1: CASI - Airworthiness
• A valid Canadian Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) License.
STREAM 2 - Airworthiness (Manufacturing)
• A valid Canadian Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) License, or an aviation related college diploma/university degree, or an acceptable combination of education, aviation experience and aviation related training.
EXPERIENCES (STREAM 1 AND 2)
• Recent experience* in holding Aircraft Certifying Authority (ACA) or Shop Certifying Authority (SCA) in a Canadian approved aircraft maintenance organization (AMO) and/or holding certifying authority within a Canadian approved manufacturing organization; OR Recent experience* in holding supervisory or maintenance control, and/or production control or quality assurance responsibilities in a Canadian AMO or Canadian approved manufacturer.
• Extensive experience in performance of complex activities in a wide variety of situations and has six (6) or more years of Industry experience as a licensed AME and/or aeronautical manufacturing technician;
• Extensive experience demonstrating an increasing level of responsibility throughout their career.
KNOWLEDGES (STREAM 1 AND 2)
• Knowledge of the Canadian Aviation Regulations and Standards that relate to the maintenance and/or manufacturing of aeronautical products.
• Knowledge of Quality Assurance, Maintenance Control and/or Production Control and Safety Management Systems as they apply to maintenance and/or manufacturing environments.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCES (STREAM 1 AND 2)
• Experience using software applications other than word processing and spreadsheet software such as: PowerPoint, Visio, MS Project, etc.
• Extensive experience* working in an environment dealing with Rotor Craft operations.
• Extensive experience* working in an environment dealing with Airline operations.
• Extensive experience* working in an environment dealing with Air Taxi operations.
• Extensive experience* working in an environment dealing with Recreational aircraft.
• Extensive experience* working in an environment dealing with Manufacturing processes (welding, plating, etc.).
• Extensive experience* working in an environment dealing with Avionics maintenance and repair.
• Extensive experience* working in an environment dealing with Non-destructive testing methods.
• Extensive experience* in the inspection, modification, repair or manufacturing of aeronautical products.
• Extensive experience* in respect of the repair or modification of structures (sheet metal, tubular, composite, etc.).
• Extensive experience* in the supervision or management of quality programs.**
**Quality programs include quality control and/or quality assurance systems.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Secret security clearance.
• Must possess a valid Canadian driver's license.
