ROLE PURPOSE

This position will provide casework and clinical support to residents of Connective's programs to enhance their quality of life, to ensure the orderly and safe operation of the residence, and to maintain the goals of the counselling and/or rehabilitative plans.

Our Community Inclusion programs help individuals access services and build community connections, while supporting them to develop life skills.

We work one-on-one with service users to encourage them to identify, work toward, and achieve their goals so they can build greater independence and more active community engagement.

Community-based outreach supports may include employment, housing, building healthy relationships and pursuing social/recreational opportunities.

AVAILABLE POSITIONS

  • Position 1:
  • This position has a weekly rotation, individuals must be able to work both weekly rotations
  • Week 1: Saturday, Sunday, and Monday,
  • Week 2: Saturday and Sunday,
  • Position 2:
  • Monday to Wednesday, & Thursday to Friday,

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
As a Residence Worker, Mental Health your responsibilities will include:

  • Acts as a positive role model for clients, providing behavior management, and life skills training as required
  • Meets with each resident on a routine basis to discuss progress and plan future goals
  • Identifies social, economic, recreational, employment, and educational services in the community that will meet the needs of each client
  • Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team and consults with team psychologist and psychiatrists to develop, implement, maintain, and adjust individualized treatment plans
  • Working with other residence staff, monitors and ensures effective operation of the facility including quality control concerning cleaning equipment, indoor and outdoor maintenance, inventory, and food services

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENRS

  • Demonstrated ability to respond efficiently in crisis and escalated situations
  • Diploma in Social Services and one year of relevant experience, we will consider a relevant combination of education and experience.
  • A background in professional or lived experience working with vulnerable populations facing multiple barriers
  • Experience working with autism (or spectrum disorders)
  • Experience working with clients with schizophrenia or major mental disorders (an asset)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Valid BC class 5 driver's license
  • Successful completion of a Vulnerable Persons Criminal Records and reference checks
  • Current Emergency First Aid Certificate
  • Proof of Covid19 Vaccination

COMPENSATION

As Connective is a unionized environment, the starting wage is $25.95 per hour plus 10.6% in lieu of vacation pay and benefits.

The wage will increase with every 2,000 hours worked up to a maximum of $29.76 per hour.
