Data Engineer II:
The Data & Analytics team at Loblaw is hiring a Data Engineer with experience in building cloud-based modern data platforms from the ground up. Reporting to the Senior Manager – Data Engineering, the incumbent will be responsible for ingesting, wrangling, cleansing and delivering data to power our Analytics, BI and ML/AI capabilities. The successful candidate will be passionate about data and have a strong foundation of data management concepts and engineering best practices.

What You'll Do:

Design and develop end-to-end Cloud based solutions supporting data integration, data ingestion, data observability, and data fulfilment. Build a Data Platform and services using the latest Cloud technologies Build real-time streaming and batch data pipelines, metadata services, and UI dashboards for data monitoring, controls, and prediction. Explore opportunities for optimization of existing data services and re-designing of data infrastructure for greater scalability and performance. Provide support to Data Governance initiatives such as data quality, data lineage, and metadata management, and perform root-cause analysis to answer specific business questions.

What You'll Bring:

Hands on experience in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field. Tenured experience in Software Engineering experience with a strong focus on data. Solid OO programming experience using Java or Python. Experience with sophisticated SQL and large relational databases such as Teradata, Oracle, or SQL Server. Experience with Linux environment and building CI/CD pipelines Ability to take initiative, being multi-task, self-starter, diligent are essential in this role Knowledge and experience in Data Lake and Big Data and Cloud technologies such as GCP (Dataflow, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Airflow), AWS or Azure is an asset.
