Reporting to the Director of Loyalty & Insights, the Data Scientist role in the Loyalty department will be crucial in shaping Longo's success by leveraging data to optimize operations, improve customer experiences, and drive growth in a highly competitive market.

You'll use your expertise in statistics, programming, and domain knowledge to solve real-world problems and support data-driven decision-making processes.

You will play a pivotal role in analyzing and interpreting data and collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation within Longo's.


What you'll do:

Data Analysis and Insights: Utilize customer data, transactional data, and other relevant data sources to extract meaningful insights. Use statistical and machine learning techniques to uncover patterns, trends, and correlations that can help improve the loyalty program.

Customer Insights: Utilize customer data to identify segments, preferences, and purchasing patterns. Generate actionable insights to personalize marketing campaigns and improve customer retention and spending.

Promo/Pricing Optimization: Analyze promo/pricing strategies and recommend data-driven adjustments to maximize revenue and profitability while remaining competitive in the market.

Predictive Modeling: Develop and implement predictive models to forecast sales demand, inventory levels, and customer purchasing preferences. These models will be utilized to plan, enhance, and support promotions effectively.

Offer Recommendations: Design and implement lifecycle models that offer targeted/personalized basket/product recommendations to customers based on their historical purchase behavior.

A/B Testing: Conduct experiments and A/B tests to evaluate the effectiveness of new marketing strategies and initiatives, providing statistically sound recommendations for continuous improvement.

Data Visualization: Create intuitive and insightful data visualizations and dashboards to present complex information in a user-friendly manner for various stakeholders.

Market Research: Stay up to date with industry trends, data science advancements, and retail-specific research to incorporate best practices into the corporation's operations.

Collaborative Partnerships: Collaborate with teams across the organization, including but not limited to marketing, IT, operations, and finance, to align data science initiatives with overall business objectives.

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor's/Master's/Ph.
D. degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.

  • Proficiency in programming languages like Python, R, or similar, along with experience in data manipulation, statistical analysis, and machine learning techniques.
  • Familiarity with data analysis and visualization tools such as SQL, MicroStrategy, Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
  • Understanding of store operations, retail dynamics, and consumer behavior within the retail environment or grocery industry.
  • Ability to identify business challenges and translate them into datadriven questions, creating solutions through analytical and statistical methods.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively convey complex findings and storytelling to nontechnical stakeholders, enabling datadriven decisionmaking.
  • Willingness to collaborate with crossfunctional teams and the ability to work in a fastpaced, dynamic environment.
  • Curiosity and passion for exploring data, discovering insights, and proactively seeking opportunities for improvement.
