Your Contribution to NRSI

NRSI is looking for locally-situated motivated and independent individuals to conduct a variety of field monitoring activities, primarily conducting wildlife mortality searches at operating wind energy facilities.

These positions provide an opportunity to gain experience in visual bird and bat identification, to implement scientific methods, and to collect and analyze data employing a high attention to detail.


Your Education:

  • A postsecondary degree or diploma, or high school diploma.

Your Field Skills:

  • Willing & able to work under inclement weather, in a variety of environmental and vegetation conditions, for long hours, and occasionally on statutory holidays.
  • Physically fit in order to walk for several hours each day in potentially challenging terrain.
  • Demonstrated interest in wildlife and the environment, including the desire to pursue a career in this field.

Additional Requirements:

  • A good work ethic and positive attitude, dependability, flexibility, and excellent communication.
  • Ability to work independently on a regular basis, and cooperatively as part of a field team.
  • Demonstrated accuracy, attention to detail, and problemsolving in all aspects of work, including the maintenance of wellorganized and detailed field notes.
  • Committed to continual improvement of technical abilities.

Assets:

  • Experience in the identification of birds and/or bats by sight.
  • Experience with the use of a handheld GPS and a compass.
  • Experience surveying for wildlife, and/or conducting vegetation inventories or soil assessments.
Position Type
Parry Sound - Sudbury Area: Contract, Full-Time [approximately 40 hours per week, including authorized travel].

London
  • Sarnia Area
: Contract, As-Needed [approximately 10-20 hours per week, including authorized travel].

Start Date - April 26, 2023
Duration - 6 months (until October 31, 2023)
Location - Field sites in the vicinity of Parry Sound/Sudbury (1 position) and London/Sarnia (1 position). Relocation or accommodation costs will not be reimbursed.
Key Requirements - Valid driver's license ,Standard First Aid and CPR certification
Salary
$ $24.50 per hour (commensurate on experience)
