As the North American leader in children's programming, Pedalheads is a $35 million organization headquartered in East Vancouver, with an impact that has taught foundational bike, swim, and sport skills to more than a million children.
Founded by award-winning entrepreneur, Claudia Sjoberg, Pedalheads has experienced rapid growth and demand for its world-class children's camp programming, with over 100,000+ children coming through our programs each summer.
Operations now spans across North America, with 250 locations in 5 Provinces and 8 States.Our team consists of 65 full-time employees in our 4 offices across Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Seattle, as well as remote offices.
We employ over 2500+ swim, bike and trail program employees annually.The path starts with junior instructors (volunteers) and advances to site leadership to trainers to full-time, year-round positions, to management.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director, People and Culture is a driven and highly motivated Human Resources professional.
The Director will be a senior member of the Leadership team who will execute the Pedalheads people strategy and Magnet Culture goals.
You are an engaging leader that inspires your team to go above and beyond.You have a strong understanding of all business functions and demonstrated experience managing the human resources in a high volume and high growth environment, with a focus on workplace culture.
The Director is responsible for leading the full human resource function that includes: coaching and mentoring, compensation and benefits programs, recruitment and retention, employer brand, employee relations and labour laws (Canada and US), health and safety and internal communications.
Much of our work is seasonal and peaks from 100+ to over 2500+ employees across different time zones during May through August every year.
The Director will need to support operations which may include evening and/or weekend work in the Summer, Spring Break and occasionally the remainder of the year.
This could involve travel to our camp locations, getting on Teams or on the phone to work with our teams to resolve issues.
There is never a dull day in this role. You will be busy and challenged but equally rewarded both personally and professionally, in what you do.Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Leads HR projects and executes strategies that align to the business objectives for Pedalheads in Canada and the US.
- Builds, leads and mentors a highperforming People and Culture team
Direct reports include:
Manager, People and Culture and Manager, Recruitment
Indirect:
Recruitment Coordinators and People and Culture Administrator.
- Magnet culture pillar captain works with smart growth, customer obsessed, flawless execution captains to ensure company goals and KPI's are on track and completed, provides quarterly updates.
- Provides leadership and counsel to all employees, building effective relationships and communications to foster a strong workplace culture with employees in both physical and remote locations.
- Gives recommendations, provides insight and ensures best practices on human resources initiatives.
- Provides guidance and advice on employee relations issues, leads investigations through to resolution.
- Works with Manager, Recruitment to develop recruitment and retention strategies, build employer brand, ensures hiring metrics are met and positions are filled
