We are a fast-growing international high-tech company offering high-performance non-destructive testing solutions for the inspection of critical components. On a day-to-day basis, we develop, produce and market non-destructive testing devices: sensors, probes, robotic solutions, etc., as well as the necessary operating software. Our instruments have applications in a variety of industries, including oil & gas, aerospace and nuclear.

Your daily life:

The incumbent of this position works under the supervision of the Director, System Engineering. He will play a crucial role within the R&D team by ensuring the design, integration, and optimization of products/solutions to meet customer needs and company objectives.

Responsible for guiding the technical aspects of our projects, from initial design to final implementation, he will work closely with various interdisciplinary teams to ensure a systemic view, technical consistency, and the viability of the proposed solution. He will also act as a mentor for other system engineering team members.

Finally, he will be a reference for technological and application knowledge in electromagnetic or ultrasonic NDT. In this role, he will support application groups during customer training, customer installations, or technical feasibility studies. These tasks will represent between 20% and 25% of their time.

In this role you will:

  • Define technical specifications and design new innovative products/solutions by validating market/customer needs and interacting with the product manager;
  • Design the complete and robust system architecture of the product/solution in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring alignment with market requirements and the company's strategic objectives;
  • Lead technical coordination workshops and problem-solving sessions as a guide and catalyst;
  • Build the integration and testing strategy to qualify our products/solutions and ensure their quality;
  • Define, at the beginning of the project, the required system design reviews according to the product development process and then ensure that these reviews take place and meet the requirements;
  • Ensure that test plans and procedures are ready on time in the project development and follow the execution of the test plan;
  • Manage the project's technical risks in concert with the project manager by proactively identifying potential challenges and developing mitigation strategies;
  • Work closely with the project manager to manage the schedule and costs of the development project;
  • Be comfortable presenting products and concepts to clients as a technical expert;
  • Carry the application expertise in NDT within R&D;
  • Check critical documents produced by team members;
  • Document work according to established standards;
  • Write technical reports in English and French;
  • Participate in improving our processes and work practices (especially the product development process and associated tools);
  • Offer mentorship less experienced other system engineering team members;
  • Stay up to date with technological advancements in NDT;
  • Provide client training, perform client installations, or participate in application projects (analysis of specific applications, analysis of non-destructive testing data, modeling of probe performance, design of specific probes, report writing) for about 20% to 25% of their time.

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in physics, physical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related field;
  • 5 years of relevant experience as a system engineer with demonstrated experience in leading complex, multidisciplinary projects;
  • 5 years of relevant experience in NDT or application engineering roles;
  • Knowledge of non-destructive testing by electromagnetic or ultrasonic methods or a demonstrated technical ability and willingness to master this field;
  • Deep expertise in systems engineering principles, including design, analysis, testing, and system integration;
  • Proven ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams and communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences;
  • Experience in the development of technological products/solutions;
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously and to be results-oriented;
  • Practical knowledge of product development processes, system engineering, and Design Thinking;
  • Autonomy, enthusiasm, and ease of working in a team with influence;
  • Sharp judgment, professionalism, and rigour;
  • Good synthesis skills and creativity in proposed solutions;
  • Good business sense and a concern to understand customer needs;
  • Proficiency in French and English and skills in written and oral communication;
  • Available to travel occasionally.

You Will Be Offered:

  • New workspaces in an illuminated and modern work environment;
  • A minimum of three weeks' vacation upon hiring;
  • Five paid holidays (in addition to statutory holidays) when offices close for the holiday season;
  • Five floating leaves per year;
  • Group insurance and a competitive RRSP program;
  • An on-site gym with great workouts or yoga at lunchtime;
  • Catering service at affordable prices with employer contributions;
  • Parking and electric charging stations;
  • Free coffee;
  • Entertaining activities organized regularly by the Social Club.
