Position Overview:

NCSG Crane and Heavy Haul Services currently has an exciting opportunity for an

Estimator. The Estimator based in our

Acheson office will be a detail-oriented individual with a concern for accuracy and the ability to successfully work under tight deadlines combined with excellent interpersonal, effective analytical and decision-making skills. These abilities must be supplemented with analytical thinking, effective integration within a team dynamic and the ability to work well independently.

Your success will be defined by your ability to:

  • Analyze drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to determine equipment requirements and prepare project estimates.
  • Participate in meetings with clients and other stakeholders to discuss project requirements.
  • Communicate with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather information and obtain quotes for materials, equipment, and services.
  • Determine pricing strategies which are competitive yet profitable for the company.
  • Review and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers and negotiate pricing and terms as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain cost databases and pricing models to support accurate and efficient estimating processes.
  • Follow up with clients post bid to track win/loss and review pricing strategy.
  • Assists Project Managers and Supervisors on projects at the startup stage.
  • Participates in periodic reviews and visits to projects as appropriate.
  • Builds effective relationships with peers, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Actively participates in industry, client, and community relations.
  • Carry out any other prevalent activities as required by the company.

Education/ Training:

  • Preferably a Twoyear diploma in Engineering Technology from a recognized postsecondary.
  • Technical institute or undergraduate degree in either Civil or Mechanical Engineering.

Experience Required:

  • Possess a minimum of 13 years in a similar role; previous experience in the construction and/or crane services industry.
  • Knowledge of construction techniques, equipment, and materials used in the crane and heavy haul industry.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical data.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build relationships with peers, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to effectively plan and organize work.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fastpaced environment.
