Role Overview


The Apprentice/ Journeyperson HD Technician, reporting to the Fleet Manager, is accountable for maintaining a fleet of waste disposal trucks.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective operation and regular maintenance of the vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform general vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance on all company vehicles as required.
  • Provide guidance on the set up of a brandnew allweather shop facility to provide regular service to the fleet.
  • Perform brake and safety inspections as well as complete required repairs and reports.
  • Able to diagnose & repair power train, electrical systems, HVAC system, air ride, suspensions, drum and disk brakes, wheels and hubs, differentials, air valves, hydraulic steering system.
  • Complete required documentation on repairs made and parts used.
  • Ability to operate computerbased maintenance software.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace.
  • Maintain required tools.
  • Able to operate small hand tools safely.
  • Repair and maintain facility and property as required.
  • Create and administer a scheduled maintenance program.
  • Operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Other duties as directed by manager.

Qualifications

  • 3rd year or 4th year apprentice journeyman.
  • Experience with waste disposal trucks an asset.
  • A class 5 driver's license is a minimum requirement, Class 3 license with air brake is preferred as well as an acceptable driver's abstract.
  • Ability to carry out written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • General welding skills are desirable.

From $30.00 per hour

Licence/Certification:

  • Class 5 Licence (required)
