Your responsibilities will include:

  • Help in developing internal communication strategies with senior managers.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to collect information, create communication materials, and ensure they align with project goals, timelines, and messaging priorities.
  • Ensure that organizational initiatives and projects are effectively communicated to employees and stakeholders.
  • Produce engaging written content for various platforms like newsletters, emails, intranet articles, etc., to clearly convey project updates, milestones, and vital information.
  • Keep clients informed on progress and address their inquiries.
  • Summarize ideas for the creative team of art directors and designers.
  • Utilize social media for internal staff communication.
  • Support in delivering presentations at organizational events.
  • Craft messages or scripts for employee presentations in written or verbal form.
  • Ensure consistency of internal communication messages across all channels and departments within the organization.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communication efforts using metrics and feedback mechanisms to enhance engagement and impact.
  • Address feedback from staff and adjust communication content accordingly.
  • Manage internal communication responses during crisis situations that impact the organization's perception and reputation.
  • Keep senior executives informed of updates throughout the organization, either in person or through regular written updates.
  • Provide training and guidance to project team members on effective communication techniques, including message delivery and crisis communication strategies.

Qualifications needed:

  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills to collaborate with communications and department leads as well as the ability to engage with senior executives and explain communication strategies as needed.
  • Writing Skills: Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the capacity to source stories from employees.
  • Speaking Skills: Effective public speaking skills as you may be required to present to staff. Internal communications managers require an understanding of an organization's objectives and values and the skill to communicate them to employees.
  • Creative Skills: Ability to devise communication strategies. Digital Skills: Familiarity with technology, especially digital and video communication methods, is crucial. Understanding the sector in which you want to work (private, public, or voluntary) can be essential.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in journalism, communications, public relations, or marketing is advantageous, although other degrees may also be accepted. A professional qualification from the Chartered Institute of Public Relations or the Chartered Institute of Marketing can be beneficial. A Master's degree is also an option.
  • Experience in a communications team, particularly in internal communications for a large organization, is highly desirable. However, experience in writing for diverse audiences is also valued. General experience in journalism or marketing is beneficial. Previous involvement in managing complex projects and advising senior managers is also viewed favorably.
