As a Machine Learning Engineer at Jumio, you will play a crucial role in the Biometric Verification team, focusing on the development and enhancement of cutting-edge solutions for liveness detection. Your primary objective will be to leverage machine learning and deep learning techniques to advance our technology, ensuring the highest standards of security and user verification. By collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, you will contribute to the evolution of our biometric verification offerings, driving innovation and excellence in user experience.

Your contributions are integral to Jumio's mission of delivering industry-leading solutions for identity verification. By developing and enhancing cutting-edge solutions for liveness detection, you directly impact the security and integrity of our platform, safeguarding user identities and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Your expertise in machine learning and deep learning techniques adds significant value to our technology stack, enabling us to maintain our position as a market leader in biometric verification while delivering exceptional user experiences.
Example Responsibilities:
- Design and implement machine learning, deep learning, and classical CV algorithms focused on liveness detection.
- Conduct research to support the deployment of advanced algorithms.
- Develop, evolve, and support production-quality code.
- Deploy models as AWS SageMaker endpoints or directly onto devices.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in deep learning, computer vision, and biometric verification by engaging with academic papers and attending industry conferences.
- Work collaboratively with other engineers and product managers in an Agile development environment.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
- A minimum of 4 years of commercial experience in the field of computer vision or a related area, not including time spent studying (2 years with Master's).
- Proficiency in computer vision and deep learning techniques.
- Hands-on experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow, OpenCV, SKLearn, and in developing production-grade Python code.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing best practices for monitoring and maintaining ML models in production environments.
- Experience in building, training, and deploying models to production environments.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Great to Have Experience and Qualifications:
- Experience with biometric verification or presentation attack detection.
- PhD in Computer Science or related field with a specialization in computer vision or deep learning.
- Experience in developing algorithms for facial processing and recognition.
- Experience working with voice, hands recognition or other alternative biometrics.
- Experience in building and deploying models to devices.
