RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre.

Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University.

The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Position summary

The program manager will oversee day-to-day operations, planning, implementation, and evaluation of FRQS-funded career and professional development activities for trainees (graduate and postdoctoral) across four McGill-affiliated centres, including the RI-MUHC, the Douglas Research Centre, Lady Davis Institute, and the Centre de recherche de biologie structurale.

This includes coordinating career and professional development (CPD) activities, participating in governance and management of the grant, communicating with sites and with trainees, and supporting the development of training programs.


This position reports to the leadership of this program, working in close collaboration with the Desjardins Centre for Advanced Training at the RI-MUHC.

General Duties

60 % Programmatic Initiatives

  • Responsible for the development, implementation and support for CPD programmatic initiatives for trainees,
  • Identify speakers, facilitators and partners to be involved in instruction or training, workshops,
  • Explore opportunities for experiential learning in collaboration with partners, and promote and integrate existing internship programs into the Consortium activities,
  • Develop surveys or focus groups, and analyze evaluation metrics on outcomes of programs,
  • Establish relationships with alumni for participation in career panels, speaker series, and workshops, and for outside learning opportunities for our trainees,
  • Establish relationships that foster collaboration and leverage resources for event planning and for implementation of multifaceted programs that promote professional development of our trainees,
  • Organize yearly bootcamps and events that will support the peermentoring network of the Consortium.
20% Communication, outreach and coordination of centres

  • Develop and carry out a promotions strategy across centres in the Consortium,
  • Represent the consortium in outreach across the McGill community.
20% Administration and Management

  • Oversee the appropriate governance of the grant, and committees as described,
  • Prepare financial projections, statements and agreements,
  • Oversee the achievement of grant objectives
  • Lead or colead project management plans for cohort programs.

Master's Degree

Work Experience:

Expected to have experience related to health research or training, and demonstrated experience (1-3 years) in project management and/or grant management.

  • Strong capacity for navigating the health research training and McGill University ecosystem

Status:
Temporary, full-time

Pay Scale:
Commensurate with education and experience

Work Shift:
Mon - Fri, 8:30 - 4:30 am, possible hours of work outside of normal hours.

Work Site: 2155 Guy / Hybrid work possible
