Southern Ontario Counselling Services is a counselling and therapeutic services provider located in St Thomas, Ontario. We offer a wide range of services to children, families, couples, and individuals without the need for a referral.

Our expertise lies in working with various mental health issues, neurodivergence, men, and families involved in custody/access and co-parenting issues.

We also specialize in providing Custody/Access assessments, Voice of the Child reports, and coparenting counselling with parents and children.

Role Description


This is a part-time on-site role for three Registered Social Workers providing psychotherapy services to children, adolescents, adults, and parents.

There is some limited ability for virtual work, however, most clients request in person sessions.

The Social Worker will be responsible for providing counselling and therapeutic services to clients, developing treatment plans, and implementing evidence-based interventions.

We are in specific need of therapists with a solid understanding of the issues men face as we have a large population of male clients seeking assistance for a variety of issues.

We are also seeking those with experience in working with children and adolescents, as well as those with interest in working with separated and coparenting families.

(Training and supervision provided.)

Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Social Work with a minimum of three years working directly with clients in a mental health capacity
  • Proficiency in individual, family, children, and adolescents counselling
  • Experience in assessing and diagnosing mental health conditions
  • Knowledge of evidencebased therapeutic interventions with separated families, men, and coparenting issues
  • Understanding of neurodivergence and its impact on mental health
  • Experience working with high conflict families and coparenting issues
  • Ability to conduct Custody/Access assessments and prepare reports
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Willingness to work in person at our St. Thomas offices and commit to regularly scheduled days and hours each week
  • Registered and in good standing with OCSWSSW
  • Preference will be given to those with interest or experience in working with separated parents (training and supervision provided)
