Fife House is a dynamic organization that has grown and expanded and is now looking for a Volunteer Lead to join our team.

Fife House Foundation Inc. is Canada's largest supportive residential programming and housing services provider for individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS.


We believe that access to secure and affordable housing is a key determinant of the health and well-being of people living with HIV/AIDS, and we strive to bring about positive and lasting change through cooperation, collaboration and partnership with other service agencies and meaningful engagement and involvement of diverse communities of people living with HIV/AIDS.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works with Director of Programs to implement a volunteer recruitment strategy.
  • Creates job description for volunteer position.
  • Advertise volunteer position to community partners.
  • Ensure proper onboarding of volunteers is completed.
  • Provide volunteers with ongoing support.
  • Maintain a volunteer database and records.
  • Ensures Volunteer schedules are prepared and posted.
  • Worked with Department heads to ensure proper staffing is met for events and programs.
  • Coordinates and ensures that all onsite training of all volunteers is completed.
  • Supports/coordinates the GIPA/MIPA Committee Meeting.
  • Works with partners to coordinate building wide events.
  • Oversees booking of community rooms and other spaces.
  • Participates in WCRI operations meetings.
  • Creates Monthly Community Program Calendars.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 24 years of experience in a similar position within the notforprofit sector
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering and implementing programs in responsible positions in a notforprofit setting
  • Demonstrated effective volunteer and peer management skills
  • Demonstrated familiarity with the Ontario Accord (GIPA/MEPA)
  • Demonstrated experience in PLHA peer management or equivalent
  • Certificate in volunteer management or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated data collection and input skills and experience
  • Excellent organizational (detailoriented) and time management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills along with a developed understanding of
- and proven ability to communicate and practice professional boundaries

  • Knowledge of barriers to service and community issues affecting the PLHA communities,
along with issues affecting BIPOC and 2SLGBTQIA+ communities

  • Comfortable working with a wide variety of people in a diverse environment, including
people living with HIV, people experiencing mental health and/or substance use issues, and

volunteers from many sectors, including board members, clients, corporate sponsors,

and students

  • Good working knowledge and commitment to harm reduction, equity and diversity,
Anti-racism and anti-oppression principles and practices

  • An understanding of the issues surrounding social determinants of health with a focus on
housing insecurities and the issues of homelessness.

  • Ability to work effectively in independent settings as well as in a team
  • Ability to set boundaries
  • Knowledge of Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and skill training
  • Comfortability with light cleaning and groundskeeping
  • Food Handlers Certification
  • Naloxone Training
