Shop/Fire Extinguisher Technician:

Under the direction of the Shop Lead, the
Fire Extinguisher/Shop Technician will be responsible to learn & carry out the following:

  • Hydrostatic testing/drying of low-pressure cylinders (up to 700 psi)
  • Hydrostatic testing/drying of highpressure cylinders (10,000 psi)
  • Maintenance of hydro test devices, clean agent & CO2 pumps
  • Refurbishing, hydro testing/drying, filling of Dry Chemical, CO2, clean agent extinguishers
  • Dispose of extinguishers as required
  • Documentation of all extinguishers & hoses coming in/out for servicing
  • Shipping & receiving of hoses to be tested/finished to/from vendor
  • Serve customers at the counter
  • Receive/process payment from customers
  • Forklift moves
  • Facility Maintenance as required
  • All other shop duties as required
  • Good mechanical ability
  • Physically fit
  • Repeatedly able to lift 50 lbs
  • Squatting, bending, standing, twisting on a daily basis
  • Valid class 5 driver's license
  • Fluent in English
  • Able to work with mínimal supervision
  • Forklift certification an asset
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma.
  • Computer skills and familiarity with commonly used office programs.
  • Experience with use of hand tools
  • Good record keeping
