Vice President of Product

Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada ChargeLab Inc. Full time

Role overview

ChargeLab is looking for a Vice President of Product to drive vision, strategy, and execution for our full suite of products.

This includes our cloud-based charging station management system (CSMS), EV driver experience, APIs, and generative AI capabilities.

As VP of Product, you will directly manage a team of 5-10 Product Managers and Designers.

You will collaborate closely with engineering, marketing, sales, and customer support to ensure we are shipping products that solve customer needs with faster velocity and higher quality than anyone else in our market.

You will report directly to the CEO and be responsible for informing ChargeLab's board of directors about our product goals, successes, and challenges.

By engaging with internal teams, external partners, customers, and end users, you will gain a deep understanding of the EV charging market and customer needs for software.

You will ensure our software, in synergy with hardware and broader operational requirements, enables our customers to connect, operate, and maintain their EV chargers and charging networks.

As VP of Product, you should preempt customer needs, delivering products that drive value earlier and more frequently than competitors.

You will empower our marketing and sales teams to capture a market-leading position in the EV charger management industry.

Finally, as VP of Product, you should develop a cohesive vision for how ChargeLab's products will evolve to become more competitive and differentiated in the market.

ChargeLab should not be one of many smart charging software platforms, it should be the definitive platform—leading the industry and redefining how installers, site hosts, and EV drivers think about EV charging.

Your primary KPI will be growing the number of EV chargers managed by ChargeLab.

You will also be measured on the time to value delivered by our products, customer satisfaction (NPS), product development lifecycle efficiency, product quality, and time to market.

Company details
ChargeLab is the Android of EV charging. We don't build hardware. Instead, we partner with leading manufacturers like Eaton, ABB, and Siemens to bundle their EV chargers with ChargeLab's software. Our end customers include building owners, convenience stores, utilities, and fleets. They leverage our charging station management system (CSMS) and open APIs to manage thousands of EV chargers more efficiently.

By 2030, most new vehicles sold in North America will be EVs. ChargeLab has raised US $30 million to build the world's best software for managing large networks of EV chargers. We currently have 65 full-time employees, including over 40 team members in engineering and product.

Responsibilities:

  • Define, manage, and update the product vision and strategy for ChargeLab.
  • Lead the execution of our product strategy through OKRs and by managing your team of Product Managers.
  • Set the bar for speed and quality, both among your team of Product Managers and Designers, and throughout the broader engineering organization.
  • Create a culture of datadriven decisionmaking, prioritizing speed over extended deliberation. Prioritize actionable insights with limited data rather than seeking perfect information. Our competitive advantage in Product should be speed and responsiveness to market needs.
  • Collaborate with engineering leaders to ensure successful product launches, iterations, and maintenance while balancing resources and priorities.
  • Meet with customers and partners to gather insights and feedback. Develop strong customer relationships to support product improvements.
  • Work with marketing and sales to define gotomarket strategies, ensuring that our products meet the needs of current and future customers across multiple key segments.
  • Identify, validate, and build differentiated features and products that create a competitive moat for ChargeLab.
  • Measure and optimize the user experience of our products. Use data to drive better decisionmaking and product iterations.
  • Manage the expectations of ChargeLab's board, investors, and Csuite regarding everything related to product.
