August 15, January 6, 2024 (excluding Christmas break and depending on whether TA completes grading responsibilities prior to the end of the semester)

Job Description:

Under the supervision of and in collaboration with the course coordinators, the TA will:

  • Actively participate in teaching_
  • Independently facilitate a closed seminar group of 12 students in learning group dynamics (24 hours)
  • Offer tutorials to their assigned students (minimum 6 hours)
  • Evaluate student group dynamics assignments, including establishing inter-rater reliability hours)
  • Prepare and deliver a lecture related to their interest/knowledge that is aligned with the course (2 hours
  • optional)
  • To attend all classes or review the lecture recordings for all classes in order to be aligned with course content to facilitate seminars and evaluate students (~50 hours, if the TA has recently participated in the course, or has extensive knowledge in multiple areas of psychosocial theories then this will be minimized/selective)
  • Engage in debriefing and mentorship with the course coordinators (5 hours)


Support course logistics_
  • Take minutes during team meetings (45 per semester x 12 hours each =10 hours)
  • Administer MyCourses throughout the semester (announcements, communications, organization of assignment submission folders, discussion boards, etc. ~ 15 hours)
  • Communicate with and assist guest lecturers to post material on MyCourses and manage the zoom scheduling for online portions of the course (2 hours).
  • If _participating in evaluating student exams (12 hours dependent on other factors)
The position will require a combination of online and in person activities.

Salary:
$33.03/hour

Desired Major(s): Occupational Therapy

Desired Degree Level:
Bachelors (Prior to 2009) or Masters in occupational therapy

Eligibility:
Current Masters or Doctoral student at McGill, preferably in Rehabilitation Sciences.

Must be eligible to work in Canada

Must hold an occupational therapy major (Bachelor's prior to 2009 or internationally, or masters after 2009 in Canada or USA)

Qualifications:

  • Graduate teaching experience is an asset.
  • Clinical and/or research experience focused on psychosocial/mental health aspects of practice with any clientele or age range.
  • Specific knowledge and skills with psychosocial theory/ies an asset (e.g. CBT, Psychosocial rehabilitation, psychodynamic).McGill University is Committed to Equity in Employment
  • Please note that given the resumption of most inperson teaching activities in the Fall, Teaching Assistants will be required on campus to perform their tasks in person. Should government restrictions prohibit the resumption of inperson teaching activities, courses will revert to remote teaching. Teaching Assistants may be required to perform tasks suited to a remote/online teaching environment using a virtual learning platform [e.g., Zoom, WebEx] and the McGill myCourses learning management system._
