Job Statement

Responsibilities
Supplier Relationships

  • Primary point of contact with suppliers on purchaserelated matters
  • Develop close supplier relationships and foster open lines of communication
  • Communicate forecasted demand to suppliers in order to assist them with their planning, as required
  • Provide constructive feedback (e.g., ontime delivery, product quality) to suppliers in order to improve the working relationship and enhance suppliers' levels of service to SFM
  • Work closely with suppliers in conjunction with Brand Managers and operations to assist in their understanding and compliance with SFM shipping standards (e.g., documentation, UPCs, serial numbers, labeling, etc.)
Planning & Purchasing

  • Analyze product demand based on qualitative (e.g. judgment) and/or quantitative (historical demand) input from Brand Manager and/or Sales
  • Familiar with different forecasting methods
  • Assess inventory replenishment requirements while taking into account such variables as supplier lead times, minimums, volume discounts, and minimizing freight expenditures
  • Issue purchase orders (PO) to suppliers and coordinate the effective delivery of product to satisfy demand
  • Track open POs and adjust PO quantities/delivery dates, as required
  • Communicate with other departments on critical POs, to ensure everyone is uptodate (e.g. sales and product management)
  • Ensure that POs are closed out accurately and assist A/P in resolving supplier invoice discrepancies
  • Escalate and resolve supply chain related delays
  • Process/issues price protection claims and distribute to necessary departments
Inventory Management

  • Maintain optimal inventory levels that, in general, maximize inventory turns, minimize back orders (B/O) and minimize inbound freight costs
  • Establish and implement inventory management strategies for each product that reflects the importance of the product to the business and its stocking type
  • Provide regular updates to Brand Managers and Sales on aging and obsolete Inventory
  • Lead and execute contractual stock returns/rotations with suppliers, always keeping the Brand Manager informed so discretionary decisions can be properly taken
  • Provide input for noncontractual stock rotations
Other

  • Bring purchasingrelated issues to the attention of relevant parties and participate in the resolution of those issues
  • Internal resource to other departments for purchaserelated questions
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives both departmental and companywide, as requested in an effort to improve on Key Operational Metrics and ultimately customer satisfaction and company profitability

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7year experience in purchasing/demand planning
  • Bachelor's degree or certificate in Supply Chain, Finance or related field
  • Knowledge with ERP systems including forecasting module. (JD Edwards would be an asset)
  • Experience with MRP
  • Ability to work under pressure and as a team member and to collaborate with all levels of the organization
  • Keen analytical abilities and solid problemsolving skills
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office, particularly excel
  • Shows initiative, autonomy, adaptability and can handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Bilingual
  • The Procurement Manager will be required to speak to suppliers across Canada; therefore, English is mandatory
