Job Overview:

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) plays a crucial role in conducting thorough respiratory assessments and creating management plans for patients with respiratory conditions.

Our RRTs are essential frontline healthcare providers offering respiratory therapy services around the clock, collaborating with various interdisciplinary teams within the Center.

Education:

Current enrollment with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario (CRTO). Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program. Must possess current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification, while Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is advantageous. Membership in CSRT/RTSO is a plus.


Qualifications:
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills in patient care and ventilation management. A minimum of 1 to 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Able to collaborate in an interdisciplinary healthcare team setting.
  • Capable of working autonomously.
  • Demonstrated dedication to continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Provides care with a patient-centric approach.
  • Competent in various computer skills, including electronic medical record documentation.

Accountabilities:

  • Managing mechanically ventilated patients as per center's guidelines.
  • Experience in Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) is beneficial.
  • Airway management, including intubation, and providing ventilator management.
  • Arterial line insertion, Tracheostomy tube management, and oxygen therapy assessments/management.
  • Identifying and meeting the educational needs of patients and families.
  • Delivering patient care following professional and organizational standards.
  • Conducting arterial blood gas sampling and analysis.
  • Offering clinical leadership during medical emergencies.

RRTs will also engage in student supervision and provide education to external partners with a flexibility to work varying schedules (days, evenings, nights, and weekends).
