Duties:


As the Promotional Office III within the External Relations team in the Newfoundland East Field Unit, you will be a member of a dynamic team that provides functional leadership and support for external relations at Parks Canada.

You will have the lead role in developing and implementing field unit promotional programs, products, and events to increase awareness of the Visitor Experience offers available to visitors at Parks Canada places.

Through your creativity and initiative, you will work to connect with a variety of audiences including young urban Canadians, urban families, and new Canadians, to foster appreciation of the natural and cultural heritage places managed by Parks Canada.

You will also serve as a representative of Parks Canada at tourism industry events and will be responsible for building and nurturing connections with the local tourism sector.

Education:


Graduation with a degree from a recognized university with specialization in marketing, public relations, communications, tourism or other discipline relevant to the position or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.

Experience:

EX1:
Experience planning and implementing marketing, promotions and/or communications projects and programs;

EX2:
Experience working in the promotion and advertising industry;

EX3:
Experience providing promotion and communications related advice and guidance to management and staff;

Knowledge of current principles, practices, trends and issues in marketing, trip planning, consumer promotion and tourism industry relations;

Abilities:

Ability to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate a tourism promotions program

Ability to manage budgets and approval / reporting processes related to the development and delivery of promotional products

A3:
Ability to maintain peer networks, client relationships and strategic alliances;

A4:
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing;

Operational Requirements:

  • Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform when required;
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays, when required;
  • Willingness to travel to various locations when required;

Conditions of employment:
