Pay Rate:
Salaried Position

Start Time: 6:00 am

Responsibilities:

In the position of Route Supervisor, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Must adhere to Miller Waste System safety protocols and must be able discipline subordinates if safety protocols are followed.
  • Scheduling of routes as well as record and time keeping.
  • You will ensure the timely collection of curbside materials in the Ottawa contract while building positive employee relations.
  • You will be effective at team building, while enforcing good Customer Service.
  • You will also be the primary line of communication and contact with Municipal staff and must be comfortable in dealing with various levels of Municipal staff members.
  • Daily tracking and enforcement of productivity is critical.
  • Coaching and training for lower performing drivers must be addressed on a daily basis and changes implemented when needed.
  • Other reporting such as accident/injury reports and statistical may be required. Ensuring compliance with all Provincial laws and Miller Waste health and safety policies and procedures is mandatory.
  • Consistent and fair progressive discipline must be administered when needed.
  • Compassion and understanding of individuals needs must be practiced when required and assistance must be offered and encouraged.
  • The ability to promote a team culture must be demonstrated to eliminate or reduce

Requirements:

  • Bilingual
  • French and English
  • Experience working in a Supervisory capacity in manufacturing, transportation, supply chain, trucking, or another related field.
  • You have an excellent attendance and performance record as well as proven team building skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and good organizational skills are mandatory.
  • Knowledge of MS Word and Excel and Outlook are a minimum requirement for this position.
  • Must have the physical ability to collect materials, both with the automated system as well as manually.
  • Familiarity with Ottawa and its surrounding areas would be an asset. You must be available to work Saturdays when required.
