Richmond School District operates 38 elementary schools, 10 secondary schools, alternate programs, continuing education and a number of additional facilities.

The district enrolls approximately 21,000 students (K-12) and employs over 3000 dedicated staff.

This position provides technical services, recommendations and expertise for AV related work throughout the district.

The work of this position is distinguished from that of the AV Technician by the increased responsibility of planning and leading various AV related projects, as well as developing standards and procedures for district AV systems.

This position will also be responsible for the analysis and resolutions of AV related technical issues.

This position operates under the supervision of the Manager of Networking, Communications and Security, but work is performed independently with mínimal direction received.

This is a part-time position with 12 hours of work / week. This is a temporary posting until June 30, 2023.

Major

Responsibilities:


Responsible for pre-wiring, installation, and configuration of audio-visual equipment including but not limited to projectors, sound systems, digital signage, PA Systems, Video Surveillance and Televisions.

Responsible for designing and trouble-shooting existing and new audio and video solutions, including designing and installing video surveillance systems.

Configures software applicable to audio-visual solutions, including, but not limited to Smart Software, Apple TV, PA's and Video Surveillance.

Responsible for maintaining, repairing, replacing or upgrading audio visual equipment.

Responsible for the installation of data cabling infrastructure, including termination and testing.

Consults, researches, tests and makes recommendations for new audio-visual equipment, as required.

Develops district-wide audio-visual standards and procedures, including preparing technical documentation of installations and operational procedures.


Acts as a project leader and oversees the work of other AV or network staff in tasks related to assigned projects.


Provides recommendations, in-service workshops, and training and assistance to users and technical staff regarding the operation of audio-visual equipment, including video surveillance, and the use of applicable software.

Works with mínimal supervision while adhering to defined standards.

Liaises with school administrators, site contact and outside agencies, including contractors.

Continuously upgrades skills and knowledge of audio-visual systems and technologies.


Performs duties in compliance with District and Government health and safety procedures and regulations that relate to the work performed to minimize potential for accidents, injuries or hazards.

Completes written records related to work performed and installations.

May operate a District vehicle and maintain the vehicle's equipment and materials inventory as necessary. Inspects vehicle for safe operation and reports defects to the supervisor as per District procedures. Performs minor maintenance such as keeping it clean and adding operating fluids as required.

Performs other job-related duties of comparable difficulty, importance and responsibility as assigned.

Required Qualifications


Grade 12 or equivalent plus a minimum of an Audio/Visual Technology certification from a recognized institution or a combination of applicable training and experience.


Minimum seven (7) years relevant work experience, including four (4) years of project supervision/leadership experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Extensive knowledge of established Audio-Visual systems.

Demonstrated understanding of structured cabling installations.

Must have an understanding of Macintosh and Windows computers.

Must be able to follow system diagrams (network, AV, electrical, construction etc.).

Must have excellent problem solving and organizational skills.

Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Must possess excellent customer service skills.

Must work cooperatively with others within a team environment.


Must be able to operate a variety of electrical and power tools and devices including scissor lifts, Electronic Test Equipment (Oscilloscope, Digital Volt Meter, Sound Level Meter, etc.), drills, and reciprocating saws.

Ability to organize workload, work under periodic pressure and deadlines, and complete projects and assignments with mínimal supervision.
