The role of Translator is responsible for interpreting written or spoken material into one or more other languages while ensuring the meaning and context are maintained.

This position creates glossaries or term dictionaries, possesses knowledge of multiple languages, and works as resource inside marketing and communications team environment.

What does the role involve?:

  • Read through and/or listen to material in one language, ascertain understanding of the meaning and context of that material, and convert it into a second language (French) ensuring preservation of the original meaning and context/tones are accurately captured
  • Refer to online translation tools for additional assistance with translation, as needed
  • Follow up with clients ensuring satisfaction and understanding
  • Learn technical vocabulary necessary to translate various documentation effectively
  • Translate various documentation and assist in screening documents for the engineering team
  • Translate variety of documents including literary, legal, research, technical, scientific, educational, human resource, marketing, and commercial materials
  • Additional duties, as assigned

What you need is:

  • Associates degree, required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum three (3) years' experience with corporate/business translations for the French-Canadian Market, required
  • Experience working with marketing/communications external agencies as business partners
  • Has experience using translation services tools
  • Fluency in French/English, required with a demonstrated understanding in:
  • Written and Verbal Communication
  • Understanding of Grammar
  • Knowledge of Specific Subjects, Interpersonal Communication, Accuracy,
  • Strong multitasking ability while maintaining attention to detail
  • Ability to react quickly to market changes, prioritizing items that are urgent and completed for required deadlines
  • Internal Communications background considered a strong asset
  • Strong comfort level with Microsoft Suite software such as WORD, PPT, Excel, Access and OneNote
