Now, DV group affiliates include two broker dealers, a cryptocurrency market making firm, and a bourgeoning investment adviser.

Independent Trading Group (ITG) Inc.

is a Toronto based IIROC registered broker/dealer that specializes in market making, agency execution, and bespoke algorithmic trading solutions with ultra-low latency connectivity across all Canadian venues and cross border access to US markets.

Established in the early 1990s, ITG leverages its own proprietary technology to service a broad array of over 400 public issuers, from some of Canada's largest publicly listed companies to newly minted tech startups and ETFs, as well as institutional investors from across Canada and around the world.


Responsibilities:

  • Interact and work with various departments within the firm to reconcile differences and calculate pieces critical to the financial statements and regulatory reports.
  • Perform general accounting duties for the broker dealer including reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, cost center allocations and general bookkeeping.
  • Margin management of client accounts
  • Develop, enhance, and improve internal management reporting by identifying process inefficiencies
  • Preparation of working papers including key GL account reconciliations to support month end, and year end close processes.
  • Assist with internal controls implementation.
  • Support internal and external yearend audits.
  • Prepare recurring and nonrecurring journal entries for transactions such as cash, debt, management fees, and expenses.
  • Adhoc projects and administrative/accounting duties as required.

Requirements:

  • BA/BS; Business/Econ with emphasis in accounting/finance preferred.
  • 2+ years of corporate or public accounting with audit and internal controls experience preferred.
  • Regulatory reporting experience with broker dealer preferred.
  • Experience with capital markets preferred including futures, options, and margin accounts
  • Financial or securities industry experience preferred.
  • Highly proficient in MS Excel (eg. Pivot tables, Power Pivot/Query, VLOOKUPs etc.), Google Docs and Data Extraction.
  • Experience working with QuickBooksPro Online software.
  • Selfstarter, takes responsibility for own work.
  • Communicate with coworkers, management, and company personnel in a courteous, timely and professional manner.
  • Seeks learning opportunities and constructive feedback to improve performance
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time.
  • Exceptional attention to detail to record and interpret financial data with accuracy and produce reliable and accurate reporting.
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills and strong sense of accountability to deliver upon agreed timelines.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with team members and other stakeholders.
