Accounting & Administration Clerk


Located in the south-east end of Ottawa, _GPM Holdings Inc._ is a family owned & operated organization located in the nation's capital made up of a talented team of people working collaboratively in support of two operational divisions; one provides bulk transportation services primarily for the petroleum industry, the second providing home heating fuels & on-site re-fuelling.

The company also has a full-service repair & maintenance facility.

And we are looking for a new teammate

Position Summary_:

This is a dual administrative position encompassing both Accounting as well as General Administrative responsibilities.


Ideally suited for someone wanting to further develop their existing accounting skills, the person selected will be able to think on their feet, require mínimal supervision or daily direction, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and will enjoy working within a small, centralized accounting & administration group that prides itself in maintaining a high level of professionalism.

The individual is also looking to learn and grow and is comfortable working in a 'team' environment.

Day-to-day support for the individual that joins the team is provided by the Accounting / Administration Supervisor.

Compensation_: (starting): $ 36, ,000 _however_ also commensurate with overall qualifications, years of experience in accounting, specific industry experience, educational background (college certificates, diplomas / degrees) and skill-set.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities_: - _may_ include but are not restricted to the following:
Accounting (accounts payable / accounts receivable, etc.)
& general administration:

  • All standard requirements, including creating, reviewing/verifying invoices, coding invoices based HST &/or QST, preparing check runs, facilitating signing, managing EFT's, preparing bank deposits, etc.
  • General & process the Month End Close for Accounts Payable
  • Processing customer sales orders, invoices, waybills, credit & debit memos, etc.
  • Preparation of various monthly reports
  • Audit & process credit card bills
  • Communicating with customers & vendors to clarify invoice issues
  • Perform data entry / recordkeeping
  • Maintain uptodate vendor accounts
  • Assisting with Payroll when required

Skills/Qualifications_:

Certificate or diploma in Accounting / Bookkeeping / Business Administration, or equivalent work experience, - required

Must be computer literate with detailed working knowledge of standard Microsoft Office programs, especially Microsoft Excel.

Minimum 2 to 4 years of related work experience required. If that experience includes fulfilling various accounting roles & responsibilities in an office setting, - this would be preferred.

When a mutually agreed upon commitment is made, including to a colleague or on behalf of a customer, demonstrative willingness to complete the task on time and within budget, - required

Must be detail oriented, a self-starter, exhibit strong organizations skills, and demonstrate the ability to handle multiple deliverables and deadlines simultaneously with mínimal supervision

Bilingualism preferred (English & French), but at a minimum be able to communicate effectively in a professional manner both verbally and in writing, - in English

Ability to work effectively & efficiently with others in a cross-functional, team environment, - required


Familiarity with the standard concepts, practices, and procedures of trucking & logistics industry, residential & industrial energy services, vehicle repair & maintenance services, - a nice to have.

Hold a valid driving license, preferred.

Physical Requirements_:


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to work seated for periods of time and to operate various / standard office equipment, including keyboards, printers, phone systems, etc.

Proper lifting techniques are required. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds is also required.
