Role Overview

Join us as the Corporate Counsel, a valued member of our leadership team, providing legal guidance to CARFAX Canada. Reporting to the President, this role involves drafting and negotiating contracts, managing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate various contracts and legal documents
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align contracts with company interests
  • Offer timely legal advice on corporate governance, transactions, and more
  • Supervise governance framework, including AI governance
  • Analyze legal issues, assess risks, and recommend actions
  • Develop compliance programs and ensure adherence to laws and policies
  • Assess risks related to business activities and transactions
  • Maintain organized legal documentation
  • Assist in creating legal templates and policies
  • Manage disputes, legal research, and collaborations with external counsel
  • Contribute to industry stakeholder affairs and government relations

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree and Canadian bar admission
  • Minimum 10+ years in commercial law post-call, in law firms or in-house
  • Strong grasp of risk management, contract law, governance, and compliance
  • Additional business training like B.Comm or MBA is a plus
  • Experience in ethics, compliance, and regulatory processes in tech and data fields
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills
  • Capability to collaborate across teams and prioritize effectively
