A Day in the Life


The Safety Specialist promotes a positive safety culture while complying with NRI Distribution safety standards and maintaining a safe work environment.

This includes training and coaching Managers, Supervisors, Trainers, and associates on observed work habits.

  • Experience using Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook in a professional capacity.
  • Experience maintaining confidentiality in matters involving security and/or personnel issues in the workplace.

The Must Haves:

  • 2 year diploma in Occupational Health & Safety.
  • 2 years professional Occupational Health & Safety experience in a large organization environment.
  • First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of claims management processes.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook in a professional capacity.

Things You Will be Doing

  • Maintains NRI's Safety program.
  • Ability to resource and understand legislative requirements as it pertains to NRI Operational requirements.
  • Responsible for ensuring Hazard Assessments and Toolbox Talks are completed.
  • Puts forward recommendations for improvements on Safe Work Practices and Health and Safety Policies.
  • Identifies opportunities in the Safety program and revises or creates policy and procedures to close the gaps.
  • Tracks, maintains, archives, all safety training documentation, databases to keep a real time status.
  • Manages the claims and injury management process (work related injuries) for Canada.
  • Coordinates annual safety training is provided to team members.
  • Ensures COR certification is achieved annually.
  • Puts together the monthly safety metrics for management, identifies trends, and puts together recommendations.
